OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP
From Reference to Finished Painting
Instructor Nancy Ackerman
The "painting process" is key when it comes to the success of any painting. Following a few correct steps when you begin a painting can help you break old habits and form new ones that will change forever the way you approach a painting. Students will choose from a collection of floral references, establish compositional focal points in thumbnail sketches of general shapes and value ratios, determine color temperature, and develop a color palette before beginning each painting. There will be ample time to practice these steps, completing up to four paintings during the given time.
The supply fee includes artist level materials; oil paints, medium, brushes, DaVinci Pro-Panels, contemporary gallery wrapped canvases and other essential painting supplies along with a handout of oil painting tips and recommendations from the instructor.
LEATHER ART CLASS
Instructor Tom Slavicek
You will have time to make a leather shoulder bag of your choice, or choose from any of the following projects: Leather belt, wallet, passport wallet, journal, phone belt pouch, drawstring pouch, lady's wallet, clutch purse and more.
Depending on the project you will be able to learn techniques of cutting leather and stitching styles. If desired, you can learn how to use a wood burning tool to inscribe a design directly on to the leather and then colorize it.
All leathers, materials, tools and instructions are provided, along with templates. No artistic ability is necessary, nor is any previous leather working experience. You do not need to bring anything except lunch, enthusiasm, and your desire to make something beautiful.

The class is an installment in our Heritage Art and Craft Series. Call Jim Thomas at 706-878-3300 for more information.
COLOR HARMONY WORKSHOP
Instructor Nancy Ackerman
Color is important in a painting and used incorrectly can have a negative impact in the way it's perceived. Students will explore color harmony with hands-on development of warm and cool paint palettes; reviewing complimentary colors; underpaintings vs. backgrounds; glazing effects, as well as how medium interacts with paint.
Students will have sufficient time to become more familiar with color harmony through practice and can complete up to four paintings during the given class time.
The supply fee includes all artist level materials; oil paints, medium, brushes, DaVinci Pro-Panels, contemporary gallery wrapped canvases and other essential oil painting supplies.
